The Enneagram, a personality typing system known for its uncanny accuracy in describing how human beings are wired, has seen a spike in popularity in recent years. InterVarsity Press is pleased to announce the October 2016 release of its first Enneagram resource, The Road Back to You, by Ian Morgan Cron and Suzanne Stabile.

After years of team-teaching about the Enneagram and field-testing their content, Cron and Stabile now introduce the material to a wider audience. Stabile said, "About a year ago on an otherwise predictable Sunday afternoon I answered a call from Ian. As it happens he is one of my top-ten favorite authors. He said without hesitation, 'Let's write an Enneagram book.' I've rarely felt so honored. It has been my joy to contribute to the Enneagram primer." Cron said, "No other teacher has helped me understand and apply the Enneagram from a Christian perspective better than my coauthor Suzanne Stabile. For the most part, what I know about the Enneagram I learned from her."

The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery will offer a unique, narrative-based approach to the Enneagram that is specifically designed to help readers do the work of Christian growth and spiritual formation. "Some people steer clear of personal inventory tests. They don't want to be put in a box," said Cron and Stabile. "But the Enneagram has more to do with getting us out of the boxes we didn't know we were in."

Ian Morgan Cron is a bestselling author, speaker, Enneagram teacher, counselor, Dove Award–winning songwriter and Episcopal priest. His books include the novel Chasing Francis and spiritual memoir Jesus, My Father, the CIA, and Me. Cron draws on an array of disciplines—from psychology to the arts, Christian spirituality and theology—to help people enter more deeply into conversation with God and the mystery of their own lives.

Stabile is an internationally recognized Enneagram master and has conducted more than five hundred Enneagram workshops. She has spoken to college audiences and hundreds of churches across America. Her DVD curriculum for study groups, The Enneagram Journey, was released in October 2014 and has been used by an estimated 1,100 individuals.

Cindy Bunch, IVP's editorial director, said, "Ian Cron's take on the Enneagram is full of every bit of the creative writing that one would expect from the author of Chasing Francis with the invaluable addition of Suzanne Stabile's expertise through her years of teaching and training over five hundred Enneagram seminars across the country. It is an ideal writing collaboration."
