Kneeling with Giants: Learning to Pray with History’s Best Teachers (InterVarsity Press/IVP Books) by Gary Neal Hansen was honored with the Christian Resources Together 2013 Devotional Book of the Year Award. Christian Resources Together is a United Kingdom–based organization that provides support, fellowship, training and business opportunities for those working within the Christian retailers and suppliers trade.

The Christian Resources Together Awards are presented each year at the Christian Resources Together Retailers & Suppliers Retreat at The Hayes Conference Centre in Derbyshire, England. Brian Wilson, chief executive of IVP in the United Kingdom, accepted the award on behalf of Hansen and InterVarsity Press.

Other books nominated for the Devotional Book of the Year included When You Pray by Joanna Collicutt (Bible Reading Fellowship), Run Your Race by Rachel Hickson (Monarch) and The Shack Reflections by William Paul Young (Hodder & Stoughton).

In Kneeling with Giants Hansen introduces ten historical figures who were uniquely connected to God through prayer. Kneeling with Giants is divided into four sections, each highlighting different historical figures and providing different prayer methods for those who find themselves longing for a deeper connection with God.
