You have been summoned.

Life is complicated, and sometimes we feel stuck or adrift. But God has been at work in your life, and he's still working in you. God is calling men to a deeper life of faith, surrender and commitment. You can learn to recognize where he's leading you and what he's calling you to become.

Leadership coach Daniel Allen knows what it's like to be summoned by God. He shares how he heard God's wake-up call on his life and what it takes to find a life of fulfillment, passion and purpose. This honest guide gives practical, real-life advice for shaping a godly view of manhood, building character and growing in spiritual practices and leadership. From his own experience, Allen addresses common pitfalls that trip men up and shows how you can thrive in your faith, vocation and relationships. Including a four-session study guide for men, this book shows how God is shaping you into a leader, and that he is sending you out to serve others around you.

There's more to this life. Step up and answer the call to deeper discipleship.

"In Summoned, Daniel Allen provides a compelling invitation to follow Jesus with our whole lives. With deep and accessible wisdom, he addresses common issues faced by American men in the journey of discipleship. He does not remain fixated on issues and barriers, but he calls us to profound transformation and flourishing leadership. I recommend this book especially to men in their twenties and thirties."

Jason Jensen, national field director and Discipleship Steering Committee chair, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship

"What does it mean—really—to follow God? How does God's call impact our jobs, our relationships, our thoughts? With warmth and candor, Daniel Allen provides clear direction for every young person who wants to know how their life matters to the world. Perfect as a resource for a mentoring relationship or as a gift to a young leader, Summoned speaks into today's culture with accuracy, strength and hope. I'll be keeping multiple copies on hand—and anyone who has a desire to see the best out of young leaders will want to as well."

Nicole Unice, ministry leader at Hope Church in Richmond, VA and author of Start Here and She's Got Issues

"Daniel is a friend and mentor to me, and I can commend him as a guide who has been where you want to go. Read on if you want to live the life God dreams for you."

From the foreword by Hugh Halter

"The difference between leaders and followers is perspective. The difference between leaders and better leaders is better perspective. Daniel Allen's book, Summoned, is about giving leaders a heads-up on better perspectives they will need all during their lives and ministry. The strength of the book lies in the many personal illustrations, both from his own life and from folks he has personally observed, which underlie excellent guidelines and principles. These personal anecdotes authenticate his experiential learned guidelines and principles. Forewarned is forearmed. Daniel's book will do just that. Leader, read it and get better perspective on many leadership issues."

J. Robert Clinton, retired professor of leadership, School of InterCultural Studies, Fuller Theological Seminary

"Daniel Allen shares real life experiences and the insights that he's gained to help us travel on a clear path toward discovering God's dreams and designs for our lives. This book is so important because we can too easily find ourselves misaligned and in pursuit of our own dreams and striving to design our own lives instead of aligning ourselves with God's."

Steve Saccone, author of Protege: Developing Your Next Generation of Leaders

"There is no one I know who can stir the hearts of leaders, especially those emerging and younger leaders, as Daniel Allen. I have been privileged to have a front row seat to see it occur. As you read Summoned you will be challenged to not stay where you are as a leader. Be prepared to encounter the grand narrative of King Jesus, and the unique story he is writing into the hearts and lives of those of us who follow him. May each of us respond in new fresh ways to his summons on our lives. I highly recommend this new work!"

Terry Walling, president, Leader Breakthru

"Throughout over twenty-five years of pastoral ministry, hands down, the most frequently asked question I have been posed has to do with knowing God's will in relation to personal calling. In this book Daniel Allen has given us all a gift. I just wish I would have had it throughout the years to hand to others. Summoned is a treasure box of wisdom and encouragement."
