Sandra L. Barnes

Sandra L. Barnes (PhD, Georgia State University) is professor of human and organizational development at Vanderbilt University. She has also taught at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, Purdue University in Indiana, and at Georgia State and DeKalb Technical Institute, both in Georgia. Additionally, she has worked at General Electric Capitol Corporation and at Acxicom. Her scholarly work has been published in The Journal of African American Studies, Research in the Sociology of Health Care, Social Problems, Sociological Spectrum, Journal of the Interdenominational Theology Center, Journal of Black Studies, Sociological Focus, Journal of Children and Poverty, and Race, Ethnicity and Education. She is the author of The Cost of Being Poor (SUNY Press, 2005).
