Christian faith is centered in the cross. And the Christian life is likewise rooted in the cross. The studies in this guide, based on John Stott's book The Cross of Christ, are designed to bring us to the heart of the cross with an understanding of what was accomplished there on our behalf.

We begin with an individual perspective but move on from there into a deeper understanding of what it means to live as a community under the cross. Our worship, our call to mission, our ability to love our enemies and to face the perplexities of suffering--the cross transforms everything! These thirteen-session LifeGuide® Bible Study provide the ever-increasing understanding of the cross needed by every believer.

For over three decades LifeGuide Bible Studies have provided solid biblical content and raised thought-provoking questions—making for a one-of-a-kind Bible study experience for individuals and groups. This series has more than 130 titles on Old and New Testament books, character studies, and topical studies.

"I always count on InterVarsity Press's LifeGuide Bible Studies to provide quality, in depth studies that are well worth the student's time. The questions for each week's study are always insightful and thought provoking. When I saw John Stott's studies on The Cross and Christian Leadership, I knew the combination of his exceptional teaching and LifeGuide's format would be great. This is a good resource for a small group that really is interested in going deeper and growing in their knowledge of theology and personal faith in Christ."
