IVP Academic Finalizes Contract for The Old Testament in Color

IVP Academic is excited to announce the finalized contract for the highly anticipated The Old Testament in Color.

Rachel Hastings said, “Immediately after the publication of The New Testament in Color, many people asked me when we would have a volume for the Old Testament, so I am thrilled that we can now begin work on this exciting and needed resource.”

The New Testament in Color, the first volume of its kind written by a multiethnic team of scholars, released in August 2024. Since then it has been recognized for its unique contribution to biblical understanding for both the academy and the church. The New Testament in Color received the Christianity Today Book Award in the Biblical Studies category and received honorable mentions by both Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards and SOLA Network’s Asian American Book Awards.

Soong-Chan Rah, Robert B. Munger Professor of Evangelism at Fuller Theological Seminary, said, “The American evangelical church has desperately needed this book, The New Testament in Color. For those of us who value the power and authority of God’s Word while aware of the diverse experiences and realities that shape our own culturally unique stories, we have longed for this book. This text reminds us that God is a transcendent God who speaks through a transcendent source, but that God is also God with us, immanent in the Word and also in our lives.”

Similar to the New Testament commentary, The Old Testament in Color, tentatively scheduled to release in 2030, will feature a multiethnic team of scholars holding orthodox Christian beliefs. Each scholar will bring exegetical expertise coupled with a unique interpretive lens to illuminate the ways social location and biblical interpretation work together.

Hastings added, “We’ve received countless insights from readers of the first volume, and it’s certainly sparked a lot of exciting discourse within both the academy and the church. Not only has The New Testament in Color filled a gap in commentary resources, but it’s also spurred the theological imagination of readers about what they would like to see in The Old Testament in Color. This volume will build on the groundbreaking foundation of The New Testament in Color while continuing the conversation around social located biblical interpretation.”

Editors for The Old Testament in Color will include Dominick Hernandez and Carmen Imes, both associate professors of Old Testament at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University; Chloe Sun, professor of Old Testament at Fuller Theological Seminary; and Esau McCaulley, The Jonathan Blanchard Associate Professor of New Testament and Public Theology at Wheaton College. McCaulley also served as the general editor for The New Testament in Color.

IVP Celebrates Two Finalists in 2026 Christian Book Award® Program

The Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) has announced that two InterVarsity Press (IVP) titles—Rebecca Sue and What Gen Z Really Wants to Know About God—are among the finalists for the 2026 Christian Book Award® program.

Written by five-time New York Times bestselling author Kathleen Norris, Rebecca Sue: A Sister’s Reflections on Disability, Faith, and Love ventures into new territory for the author as she shares an intimate portrait of her younger sister. Becky’s life was shaped by lifelong mental and physical disabilities, and Norris paints a picture of Becky’s complex life, from her hopes, sense of humor, frustrations, and hardships to her journey from bitterness and anger to a life characterized by gratitude.

Norris said, “When Rebecca told me, ‘You should write a book about me, so I can be famous like you,’ I recognized it as a call. It’s been an honor to explore my relationship with my sister and try to present her in all her complexity.”

Rebecca Sue is a finalist in the Biography & Memoir category of the 2026 Christian Book Award® program. Norris’ New York Times bestsellers include The Cloister Walk; Acedia & Me: A Marriage, Monks, and a Writer’s Life; Dakota: A Spiritual Geography; Amazing Grace: A Vocabulary of Faith; The Virgin of Bennington; and several volumes of poetry.

Norris has contracted a second book with IVP, Finding God in the Desert, that is tentatively scheduled to release in fall 2027.

The other IVP Christian Book Award® finalist, chosen for the Ministry Resources category, is a book that provides insights into the seven key questions Gen Z is asking about life and faith, offering actionable advice tailored to their values and worldview. What Gen Z Really Wants to Know About God: Seven Questions About Life and Faith, written by veteran youth worker Tanita Tualla Maddox, goes beyond just answering questions—it explores how to translate the unchanging truths of the gospel into Gen Z’s cultural context.

Maddox is the national director for generational impact for Young Life and serves as an associate regional director in the Mountain West Young Life region.

“Right now, the church is answering questions Gen Z is not asking while ignoring the ones they do ask. This furthers a disconnection between the Christian faith and the realities of everyday life for Gen Z,” Maddox writes. “When we ignore the questions Gen Z is asking, Gen Z doesn’t have an opportunity to see how the Bible is relevant to the longings of their hearts and souls. This means the conversation around faith and the gospel does not intersect the worldview or experience of Gen Z in a meaningful way, even though it could! After all, the gospel is good news for everyone, everywhere, throughout time.”

IVP Appoints Jon Boyd to Vice President of Editorial and Names Cindy Bunch Senior Editor-at-Large

InterVarsity Press (IVP) has appointed Jon Boyd as the new divisional vice president of editorial and associate publisher. IVP is also pleased to announce that Cindy Bunch has been named senior editor-at-large.

Bunch has worked at IVP for more than thirty-seven years, including ten years as associate publisher and director/vice president of editorial. “I am deeply grateful for Cindy’s many years of faithful service leading our editorial team. Her steady influence has shaped IVP’s editorial culture, accompanied authors with care, and helped steward our publishing work with theological depth and integrity,” said Terumi Echols, publisher and president at IVP.

As senior editor-at-large, Bunch will continue to acquire spiritual formation books, lead writing workshops, and shape LifeGuide Bible Studies, a project she has led since 1990. She will move into this new role on June 1.

Boyd has worked at IVP for more than fourteen years. He joined IVP as the digital communications manager in 2012, was named associate academic editorial director in 2016, and has been the academic editorial director since 2017. He will fill Bunch’s position as divisional vice president of editorial and associate publisher on April 1.

“There have been only three editorial leaders in IVP’s 79-year history: James W. Sire, Andrew T. Le Peau, and myself,” Bunch said. “I am so pleased that Jon Boyd will carry the torch as the new leader of the editorial department. Jon brings an understanding of who we are and passion for our unique place in the publishing world. This is paired with his optimistic vision for the future. He’s brought both stability and innovation to the academic department during his tenure in editorial, and I expect that he will do the same for the whole department. I look forward to carrying out my own role acquiring and developing books for IVP Formatio under his leadership.”

Boyd said, “What an honor and privilege it is for me to come along in the line of IVP’s previous heads of editorial, all giants of Christian publishing stretching back to the 1970s. The editorial program they created is going strong, which is what makes it even thinkable for me to dare to follow in their footsteps.”

Before joining IVP, Boyd held leadership positions in communications at North Park University. He also served as the web producer for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship for four years and as associate director of InterVarsity's Graduate and Faculty Ministry from 2000 to 2009. Boyd received his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Michigan, a master’s in Hebrew Bible from Trinity International University, and a PhD in history from Johns Hopkins University.

“Jon brings a rare combination of scholarly depth, publishing expertise, heart for ministry, and long-standing service to InterVarsity,” Echols said. “For nearly fourteen years he has served IVP with steady commitment, thoughtful leadership, and deep care for our publishing mission. We are grateful for his leadership thus far and for the qualities he brings to this role. He is relational and trusted by colleagues and authors. He is attentive to data that helps us steward IVP’s resources wisely. He is a quick study who asks thoughtful questions and brings fresh thinking to complex challenges. Boyd said, “IVP has been breaking the rules since our first book in 1947 (a Bible study written by a woman), and ever since then we’ve joyfully gone about our mission of amplifying the voices of people with important things to say, even if they had been silenced by the usual gatekeepers. Some of those rules have changed, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse—so all the time we face fresh challenges. We’ll keep working on the best ways to use print and digital media, human intelligence, and Christian faithfulness to equip believers with the insights and encouragement they need to face what’s next.”

IVP Announces Hear Women Podcast

In celebration of Women’s History Month in March, InterVarsity Press (IVP) announces the launch of the new Hear Women podcast alongside its Read Women initiative. Together these initiatives, with the tagline “Listening to Women for the Good of the Church, Academy, and World,” invite readers and listeners to engage thoughtfully with women’s stories, ideas, and leadership and elevate women’s voices and contributions across faith, scholarship, and culture. The first Hear Women episode releases March 9.

In Hear Women authors and hosts Dorina Lazo Gilmore-Young, Tara Beth Leach, and Nijay Gupta engage in conversations that highlight the many ways that women bring a profound impact to the church, their communities, and the world.

Gilmore-Young said, “This theme is certainly one of my passions. I’m a big fan of both Nijay and Tara’s work so I look forward to entering into these conversations together!” Gilmore-Young is a speaker, teacher, podcaster, and journalist, and the author of several Bible studies and devotionals including Redeemer and Breathing Through Grief.

One of the distinctions about Hear Women is the thoughtful discourse largely led by and featuring the voices of women. Different from most podcasts with a female-only hosting team or a mostly male hosting team, Hear Women will model what it means for men to honor, support, and collaborate with the voices, expertise, and giftings of women.

Three IVP Titles Named 2026 Outreach Resources of the Year

Outreach magazine has named three IVP titles 2026 Resources of the Year. The honored books include Remissioning Church by Josh Hayden, Nailing It by Nicole Massie Martin, and Global Christianity and Islam by Wafik W. Wahba. Now in its twenty-third year, the 2026 Outreach Resources of the Year honors the past year’s best books that emphasize outreach-oriented ideas that churches and organizations of all sizes can use.

Four IVP Titles Receive 2026 Illumination Book Awards

The Illumination Christian Book Awards celebrate the best new Christian books from both independent and traditional publishers. The awards recognize outstanding works that thoughtfully explore faith, Scripture, and spiritual themes in today’s world.

On their adventure, Abigail encounters fascinating animals, marvels at a big, beautiful waterfall, and learns about caring for creation. Abigail and the Waterfall is an invitation for families to discuss what the Bible says about caring for the environment, animals, and the beautiful world around us.

Sandra L. Richter (PhD, Harvard University) is the Robert H. Gundry Chair of Biblical Studies at Westmont College. She is best known in the church for The Epic of Eden: A Christian Entry into the Old Testament, the video courses that have grown from that project, and Stewards of Eden: What Scripture Says About the Environment and Why It Matters.

Abigail and the Waterfall is also an Independent Press Award winner.

Kaylee Prays for the Children of the World: God Hears Every Prayer, written by Helen Lee and illustrated by Shin Maeng, won a bronze medal in the Children’s Picture Book category. This book follows Kaylee and her grandfather, Halbi, as they read the morning newspaper. While reading they look for ways to pray for the children of the world. Featuring a Korean American family, this story gently guides children to recognize the brokenness in our world and to turn their hearts to God with the assurance that He hears every prayer—even when words feel hard to find.

IVP Announces Next Seven Just Show Up Book Clubs

On Tuesday, February 17, InterVarsity Press (IVP) will kick off the first of seven Just Show Up Book Clubs (JSU), where you simply show up to read, listen, and discuss books with others. No homework, no pressure—just meaningful conversations and shared learning. This season will feature books that fall into one of two themed tracks: justice and spiritual formation.

The IVP JSU Book Club is made possible through a grant from the Grace and Mercy Foundation, an organization that partners with nonprofit organizations to promote lifelong learning through JSU Book Clubs and the Public Reading of Scripture (PRS).

“The mission of Grace and Mercy and the Just Show Up Book Club is also the mission of IVP,” said Terumi Echols, president and publisher at IVP. “We both strive to get life-changing books into the hands of readers so they can read, discuss, and grow in their understanding of faith and the world around them. We are so grateful for their support in offering a format like the IVP Just Show Up Book Club that will bring people together to read and discuss transformative resources.”

Have you ever felt too progressive for conservatives, but too conservative for progressives?

The authors of this book represent the AND Campaign, which exists to educate and organize Christians for faithful civic and cultural engagement. They insist that not only are we called to love our neighbors through the political process but also that doing so requires us to transcend the binary way the debates are usually framed. In simple, understandable language, they lay out the biblical case for political engagement and help Christians navigate the complex world of politics with integrity, from political messaging and the politics of race to protests, advocacy, and more.

IVP Releases Honest Conversations Streaming Video Series on Race, Justice, and Reconciliation

David Swanson is the pastor of New Community Covenant Church, a multicultural congregation in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood. Christina Edmondson (PhD, Tennessee State University) is a higher education instructor, organizational consultant, and cohost of Get in The Word with Truth’s Table and the Truth’s Table podcasts. She is the coauthor, with Chad Brennan, of Faithful Antiracism and has served in a variety of roles including as the dean for intercultural student development at Calvin University. She is also a certified cultural intelligence facilitator, public speaker, mental health therapist, and a consultant in the areas of ethics, equity, and Christian leadership development.

Mariah Humphries is a citizen of the Mvskoke Nation, writer, lecturer, and speaker whose work explores the intersections of spiritual formation and justice. Drawing from her lived experience navigating both Native and White American contexts, Mariah invites audiences to consider how faith can confront inequity and embody justice.

Chris Butler is the senior leader of the Chicago Embassy Church Network and has been involved in several efforts to improve educational equity in Chicago. He serves as the founder and executive director of Parent Power Chicago as well as the founder of the Chicago Peace Campaign, which organizes churches and other faith-based institutions to build peacemaking networks in local communities. He is the coauthor, with Justin Giboney and Michael Wear, of Compassion (&) Conviction.

Justin Giboney (JD, Vanderbilt University) is the cofounder and president of the AND Campaign, a Christian civic organization focused on raising civic literacy, promoting civic pluralism, and equipping Christians to engage politics with the love and truth of Jesus Christ. An ordained minister, attorney, and political strategist, Giboney has been featured in publications such as the New York Times and Christianity Today and is the author of Don’t Let Nobody Turn You Around.

Jamaal Williams (DEdMin) serves as lead pastor of Sojourn Church Midtown in Louisville, Kentucky, and as president of the Harbor Network. In addition, he regularly consults churches on leadership matters and issues related to building healthy multiethnic churches. He is the coauthor, with Timothy Paul Jones, of In Church as It Is in Heaven.

This set of four streaming videos features Dr. Christina Edmondson and Ekemini Uwan, the hosts of the popular podcasts Truth’s Table and Get in The Word with Truth’s Table. Each hour-long study features the teaching of a Black guest expert who provides an overview of a particular biblical book, followed by insightful and engaging conversation about the text with Edmondson and Uwan.

IVP Hosts Webinar Series to Help Families Navigate Christian Nationalism

InterVarsity Press (IVP) will host a free, two-part webinar series on February 3 and 10 to help parents and caregivers thoughtfully engage the topic of Christian nationalism.

In recent years, Christian nationalism in the United States has become more prevalent, leading to a cultural climate marked by divisions and tense discussions around faith, identity, and politics. It can be difficult to navigate these issues ourselves, let alone figuring out how to engage our own families, communities, and kids.

In this two-part webinar series, trusted IVP authors will have conversations about what Christian nationalism is, the causes of its increased prevalence, and how it affects our communities, including the youngest among us.

“We are living in tumultuous times, and it’s difficult as a parent or caregiver to fully know how to best engage the topic of Christian nationalism within our families and communities. But nor can we ignore what is happening right before our eyes,” said Helen Lee, digital media strategist at IVP and moderator for the first webinar session. “I’m so grateful for our authors who can equip us on this topic through their thoughtful, Christ-centered expertise, as well as for the work that the Wholehearted Households team has done to produce these first live events. May they serve families and have lasting, positive impact for the good of the church.”

The first session, on February 3, 2026 at 7 p.m. Central, will focus on “Understanding Christian Nationalism in the United States.” This session will serve as a primer for understanding the broader scope of Christian nationalism: what it is, why it’s gaining popularity, and why it’s ultimately incompatible with Jesus’ teachings.

Guest expert Miranda Zapor Cruz, professor of historical theology at Indiana Wesleyan University and author of Faithful Politics, will first give a brief introduction to Christian nationalism, defining key terms and discussing its history and origins. Jonathan P. Walton will then help identify reasons for the rise of Christian nationalism and how different communities are currently responding. After these two presentations, Walton and Cruz will discuss with each other and answer questions.

Walton is a senior resource specialist for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, focusing on political discipleship and civic engagement, and the author of five books, including Twelve Lies That Hold America Captive and Beauty and Resistance.

The second webinar is scheduled for February 10, 2026 at 7 p.m. Central on the topic of “Addressing Christian Nationalism with Our Families and Communities.” This conversation will touch on what to do when family members or communities disagree, how to tend to the spiritual lives of our kids when talking about Christian nationalism, and the need for intentional family discipleship through it all. This panel discussion will also allow for questions at the end and includes guest experts Lacy Finn Borgo, Caleb Campbell, and Christina Edmondson.

Borgo teaches and provides spiritual direction with adults and children through Renovaré, Mercy Center Burlingame, and the Companioning Center. She is the author of Spiritual Conversations with Children, Faith Like a Child, and All Will Be Well.

Campbell has been a pastor at Desert Springs Bible Church in Phoenix, Arizona, since 2006 and lead pastor since 2015. He is the author of Disarming Leviathan.

IVP Launches Season Three of The Digital Examen Podcast on January 28

On January 28 InterVarsity Press (IVP) will kick off the third season of The Digital Examen podcast. Hosted by pastor and author Jay Y. Kim, the podcast aims to guide listeners in “Living at the Pace of Peace.”

The idea for The Digital Examen was developed in response to the exhaustion so many people are experiencing amid the noise of the modern digital age, where peace is scarce and self-reflection is infrequent. Building upon the themes of listening, peace, slowness, and noticing God in everyday life explored in the show's first two seasons, season three seeks to explore the goal of a deeply formed life: joy and delight with God.

Kim will join an array of writers, educators, artists, and theologians—including Malcolm Guite, Hakeem Bradley, David Taylor, Jon Guerra, Tish Harrison Warren, and many others—to explore the many gifts God offers just beneath the surface of our frenzied lives, often hidden in plain view.

“Like many people these days, I often find myself overwhelmed by the chaos of the digital age—so much frenzy, so little peace,” Kim said. “My hope is that The Digital Examen will offer people not only a learning experience but also an invitation into stillness with God as we slow down enough to listen as much as we learn.”

Releasing on Wednesday, January 28, the first episode of The Digital Examen will have Kim introduce the podcast season and pose questions surrounding what it means to live a deeply formed life. As the lead pastor at WestGate Church in Silicon Valley, Kim has experienced the digital church in all its splendor and writes about it in his books, Analog Church, Analog Christian, and the forthcoming The Pace of Peace. Kim has also written on the topic of the digital age for Christianity Today, The Gospel Coalition, Missio Alliance, and Relevant Magazine.

In addition to a range of popular essays, he has published articles in the Calvin Theological Journal, Christian Scholar's Review, Worship, Theology Today, and Image Journal, among others. An Anglican priest, he has lectured widely on the arts, from Thailand to South Africa. In 2016 he produced a short film on the Psalms with Bono and Eugene Peterson.

Phaedra Jean Taylor is an encaustic, watercolor, and illustration artist, in Austin, Texas, where she lives with her husband, David, and two children, Blythe and Sebastian. Together they make creative liturgical resources for families and church communities.

IVP’s Remissioning Church and Beauty and Resistance Honored with Englewood Readers’ Best Awards

InterVarsity Press (IVP) is thrilled to announce the honoring of two IVP titles in the 2025 Englewood Readers’ Best Awards. Beauty and Resistance: Spiritual Rhythms for Formation and Repair received an honorable mention and Remissioning Church: A Field Guide to Bringing a Congregation Back to Life won the overall award.

The Englewood Review of Books was launched in 2008 with a mission of “covering books related to the themes of community, mission, imagination, and reconciliation, and hope.” They champion a way of reading that is “driven by an attentiveness to the communities in which we are embedded: church, family, neighborhood, workplace.”

The 2025 Englewood Readers’ Best Awards celebrates the highest-ranking favorite books among Englewood readers for books with an initial publication in 2025.

Written by pastor Josh Hayden, Remissioning Church offers practical tools and field-tested methods for church leaders to resurrect their congregations. Hayden runs remissioning trainings through `Iwa Collaborative across various denominational, non-denominational, and global networks. He is the senior pastor at First Baptist Church in Ashland, Virginia.

In Beauty and Resistance, Jonathan P. Walton provides the spiritual scaffolding needed to sustain both interior formation and outward engagement. Walton introduces practices and frameworks for a rooted life, where the pursuit of justice flows from a place of authentic restfulness, not reactivity.

Walton leads Beauty and Resistance Cohorts, writes The Crux on Substack, and is a senior resource specialist for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship focusing on political discipleship and civic engagement. He has written five books, including Twelve Lies That Hold America Captive.

The Englewood Review of Books is published by Englewood Christian Church, located on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis. From fall 2010 to spring 2020, Englewood published a quarterly print magazine.

Two IVP Academic Titles Win 2025 Credo Book Awards

InterVarsity Press (IVP) is pleased to announce that Credo Magazine has honored two IVP Academic titles with 2025 Credo Book Awards. The award-winning books are From Aristotle to Christ and the Revelation volume from the Reformation Commentary on Scripture series.

“The Credo Magazine Book Awards move past general categories in Christianity at large to give attention and praise to the best works in theology today,” said the Credo editors. “But not just any theology will do. In the spirit of Credo itself, these accolades go to those authors who model and advance the retrieval of classical Christianity for the sake of renewal today, and not only renewal in the academy but in the church.”

The Credo Book Award winner in the Natural Theology category is From Aristotle to Christ: How Aristotelian Thought Clarified the Christian Faith by Louis Markos. This book takes us on a vigorous and celebratory journey through the work of Plato’s greatest student, demonstrating Aristotle’s often unacknowledged influence on the Christian faith.

The Credo Book Awards judges said, “The beauty of Louis Markos’s book is the way he introduces the novice to the wisdom of Aristotle to better equip Christianity with a defense of its foundational commitments. In a secular age prone to skepticism, what student can afford not to read Markos and consider the myriad ways Aristotle can clarify what we believe and why?”

The other IVP Credo Book Awards winner was Revelation, a volume in the Reformation Commentary on Scripture series. This commentary was the top book in the Translated Work — Medieval or Reformation category. Guided by Rodney Petersen and Gerald Bray, this masterfully curated commentary guides readers through a wealth of early modern commentary on the book of Revelation, including voices across theological traditions—Lutheran, Reformed, Anglican, Radical, and Catholic. Much of the material—including commentaries, sermons, treatises, and confessions—appears for the first time in English, providing pastors, scholars, and students with fresh perspectives on the text.

“The book of Revelation has proven to be one of the most difficult and significant books of the Bible, but contemporary commentators do not always give attention to the long history of Reformation interpretation on the apocalypse of John,” said the Credo judges. “Gerald Bray and Rodney Petersen have done the world of hermeneutics a great favor by consolidating many of the best commentaries on Revelation by the Reformers into one volume. Not only does this volume give us insight into the 16th century understanding of history and eschatology, but this volume will help Protestants today ask in what ways their eschatology is or is not in the stream of their Protestant forebears.”

IVP’s Don’t Despise Our Youth Receives Rooted Book Award

Finalist, Politics and Public Life

Citizenship Without Illusions: A Christian Guide to Political Engagement by David T. Koyzis presents a case for political engagement as a way to love our neighbors that doesn’t require our full devotion to parties or ideologies. Using examples from various eras and places, Koyzis guides readers to make the best of their own political situations, make thoughtful decisions, and promote societal diversity while respecting those who disagree.

Finalist, Theology (Academic)

Walking the Way of the Wise: A Biblical Theology of Wisdom by Mitchell L. Chase invites readers to rediscover wisdom as an essential thread woven throughout the tapestry of Scripture. By tracing the themes of wisdom and folly from Genesis to Revelation, Walking the Way of the Wise illuminates the role of wisdom in the covenant life of God’s people. This title is part of the Essential Studies in Biblical Theology (ESBT) series that explores the central or essential themes of the Bible’s grand storyline.

IVP Receives Two 2025 Top Shelf Book Cover Awards

InterVarsity Press (IVP) is pleased to announce that two cover designs were chosen for the 2025 Top Shelf Book Cover Awards by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA). The winning IVP covers in the nonfiction category were Disarming Leviathan, designed by David Fassett, and Front Porch Wisdom, designed by Jeff Miller.

“IVP has always valued participation in ECPA events, and the Top Shelf Awards has been particularly important to us over the years. This year we are so pleased to be recognized for two of our covers,” said Amy Cerra, senior art director at IVP. “Former art director and designer, David Fassett, has rightfully been recognized over the years for his incredible book cover designs, and his cover design for Disarming Leviathan once again hit the mark by engaging with drama and danger. Likewise, we are so pleased with the reception of the beautiful and poignant cover design for Front Porch Wisdom, designed by Jeff Miller and Faceout Studio.”

Disarming Leviathan: Loving Your Christian Nationalist Neighbor by Caleb E. Campbell provides a deeper understanding of the modern American Christian Nationalist movements and their relationship to American Evangelicalism. Campbell also explores why so many people are drawn to it. Fassett’s cover design captures the image of the serpent, representing the subtle spiritual forces at work in the American political landscape.

Miller, former associate creative director at Faceout Studio, designed the cover for Front Porch Wisdom: Navigating Leadership Pressures and Barriers as a Woman of Color by Froswa' Booker-Drew. This title celebrates the achievements and struggles of women of color in leadership, which is portrayed through the overall design elements. The Top Shelf Awards judges said, “One of our favorite covers—everything works seamlessly. The typography is beautifully balanced, and the color palette is both strong and unexpectedly fresh.”

Cerra, who joined IVP in April 2025, said she is excited by the impactful work of these designers and is looking forward to building on the rich history of design at IVP. “Our mission is to create and publish resources that deepen lives in Christ to engage the university, the church, and the world. Three IVP Titles Win 2025 Moonbeam Book Awards

InterVarsity Press (IVP) is pleased to announce that Charlie Can’t Sleep!, Kaylee Prays for the Children of the World, and The Common Rule Youth Edition have all been honored with 2025 Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards.

Charlie Can’t Sleep! Trusting God When You’re Afraid of the Dark by Rachel Joy Welcher won first place in the religion/spirituality picture book category. Beautifully illustrated by Breezy Brookshire, this bedtime story not only acknowledges a child’s fear but also equips them with a biblical, comforting approach to tackle it. Charlie Can't Sleep! reassures little ones that even in the quiet, scary moments, God sees them, hears their prayers, and stays by their side.

“Welcher’s good work provides a script for parents and other caregivers to vulnerably share that they also need to keep handing over their own fears to the God who never sleeps,” said Michele Morin, Bible teacher and writer. “Meeting our children’s fears with both sensitivity and good theology sets the stage for future conversations when bigger fears and more consequential issues are at stake.”

Kaylee Prays for the Children of the World: God Hears Every Prayer, written by Helen Lee and illustrated by Shin Maeng, won second place in the religion/spirituality picture book category. This book follows Kaylee and her grandfather, Halbi, as they read the morning newspaper. While reading they look for ways to pray for the children of the world. Featuring a Korean American family, this story gently guides children to recognize the brokenness in our world and to turn their hearts to God with the assurance that He hears every prayer—even when words feel hard to find.

Kirkus Reviews wrote, “Kaylee’s desire to be aware of the world around her, and to empathize with the suffering of others, is a beautiful model for young readers. . . . Maeng’s appealing cartoon images highlight Kaylee’s earnestness, and the ‘Kim Family Prayer Map’ gives their prayer practice a well-drawn sense of practicality. Children from many disparate places affected by both tragedy and joy are shown, giving a sense of how big and diverse the world is. An affecting story that will resonate with the faithful.”

The Common Rule Youth Edition: Growing Your Faith in a Distracted World by Justin Whitmel Earley won second place in the religion/spirituality chapter book category. This nonfiction book equips young people with tools to help them find peace and fulfillment through simple, intentional habits designed to foster freedom and rest. Earley draws on his own experiences to illustrate how small actions can lead to significant transformation.
