Steve Saccone is a director of leadership development at The Highway Community in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he trains and develops emerging leaders, staff and volunteers. A specialist in leadership development and inner life formation, he also founded and directed The Protégé Program, a global leadership experience for future entrepreneurs, church planters and spiritual leaders. He was on staff at Mosaic in Los Angeles, served at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Illinois, and has been a consultant with the Leadership Connection, Monvee, and the Gallup Organization. Leopoldo A. Sánchez M. (PhD, Concordia Seminary) is the Werner R. H. and Elizabeth R. Krause Professor of Hispanic Ministries at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. A Concordia faculty member since 2004, he is professor of systematic theology and director of the Center for Hispanic Studies. Sánchez's published work includes Receiver, Bearer, and Giver of God’s Spirit; Immigrant Neighbors Among Us: Immigration Across Theological Traditions, which he co-edited with M. Daniel Carroll R.; Teología de la santificación; and Pneumatología. He has written numerous articles for books and journals, including essays on immigration for Secular Governance: Lutheran Perspectives on Contemporary Legal Issues, on pneumatology for Third Article Theology: A Pneumatological Dogmatic, and on Lutheran identity for Nuestras 95 tesis: A quinientos años de la Reforma.

In addition to his seminary work, Sánchez served as the main drafter for The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) Commission on Theology and Church Relations report Immigrants Among Us: A Lutheran Framework for Addressing Immigration Issues. He served as president of the LCMS' Fifth National Hispanic Convention and as chairman of Lutherans in Medical Missions, an LCMS Recognized Service Organization. He also has served organizations such as the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Lutheran Hour Ministries, and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service as a theological consultant for various projects.

Brian Sanders

Brian Sanders was part of a large group of people who all left churches at the same time. Gradually they realized that while their criticism of the church was prophetic, it wasn't productive. Brian is now executive director of the Underground Network, a coalition of churches united by a call to biblical justice and love for the poor. And he is the lead pastor of the network's founding church, the Underground Church. The Likewise book Life After Church comes out of Brian's dream for a new kind of church. That dream has been formed in part by his degree in applied theology from Spurgeon's College, where he saw what it would take for a church to become a source of life to a community. Here are a couple books that have influenced Brian's thinking: The Shaping of Things to Come by Michael Frost and Alan Hirsch and Houses that Change the World by Wolfgang Simson. Alvin Sanders (PhD, Miami) is the president and CEO of World Impact. Author of Bridging the Diversity Gap, he previously served as a pastor, church planter, and denominational leader for the Evangelical Free Church of America, leading its All People Initiative.

Sanders earned a BA in biblical studies from Cincinnati Christian University, an MA in religion and urban ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and a PhD in educational leadership from Miami University. He and his family live in Cincinnati.

Mark Scandrette is an internationally recognized expert in practical Christian spirituality. He is the founding director of ReIMAGINE: A Center for Integral Christian Practice, where he leads an annual series of retreats, workshops, and projects designed to help participants apply spiritual wisdom to everyday life. His multidisciplinary studies in applied psychology, family health, and theology have shaped his approach to learning and transformation. He is on the creative team for NINE BEATS collective, a project exploring the beatitudes as a 21st century vocabulary for the living way of Jesus.
