Glenn R. Paauw serves with the Institute for Bible Reading and is the author of Saving the Bible from Ourselves. Previously, he was vice president of global Bible engagement at Biblica. In his twenty-six years at Biblica Paauw's work ranged from leading Scripture evangelism seminars at churches nationwide to overseeing the nonprofit publishing of the NIV, NVI, and NIrV translations in North America. He led the development of the revolutionary The Books of the Bible format that uncovers the natural literary form of the Scriptures and reintroduces people to the grand narrative of the Bible. A former high school Bible teacher and staff member of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Paauw has spoken on the Bible at the Q Conference, Thrive, Radio Bible Class, and at churches and conferences across the country. He has written for Christianity Today, Discipleship Journal, Christian Research Journal, Currents in Science, Technology & Society, The Banner, and Q Ideas. In 1995 Paauw was a founding board member of Food for Thought gatherings, building community in the Colorado Springs area by bringing people from diverse worldviews together in dinner discussion groups. His education was in philosophy and theology at Calvin College and Seminary. He lives in Colorado Springs with his wife, Jain, and has two adult sons.

A Remarkable Life of Knowing God

J. I. Packer (1926–2020) is regarded as one of the most well-known theologians and influential evangelicals of our time. Once named to Time magazine's list of the 25 Most Influential Evangelicals in America, Packer wrote what many consider the definitive classic evangelical book of the twentieth century, Knowing God, which has sold more than one million copies in North America alone.

As the author of forty-seven books, as well as untold numbers of journal articles, book reviews, dictionary entries, and forewords, Packer's prolific work has impacted countless pastors, thought leaders, theologians, and authors. He preached and lectured widely in Great Britain and North America and served as general editor of the English Standard Version of the Bible published in 2001, and as theological editor of the Study Bible version. When Christianity Today conducted a survey to determine the top 50 books that have shaped evangelicals, Packer's book Knowing God came in fifth. In 2014, Packer was named Author of the Year by the Association of Logos Bookstores.

Packer was a frequent contributor to and an executive editor of Christianity Today, and wrote numerous articles published in journals such as Churchman, SouthWestern Journal, Reformation & Revival Journal, and Touchstone. In addition to Knowing God, his books include Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God (1961), Keep in Step with the Spirit (1984), A Quest for Godliness: The Puritan Vision of the Christian Life (1994), Weakness Is the Way (2013) and many others.

Glenn Packiam (Doctor of Theology and Ministry, Durham) is the lead pastor at Rockharbor Church in Costa Mesa, California. He previously served as associate senior pastor of New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is the songwriter of more than fifty worship songs, including "Your Name" and "Mystery of Faith," and the author of several books, including Blessed Broken Given: How Your Story Becomes Sacred in the Hands of Jesus and Discover the Mystery of Faith: How Worship Shapes Believing. He is also a visiting fellow at St. John's College at Durham University and an adjunct professor at Denver Seminary.

Packiam preaches at conferences for pastors and worship leaders and has spoken at Wycliffe Hall at Oxford University, Biola University, Asbury Seminary, Calvin College, and Trinity School for Ministry. He and his wife, Holly, have four children.

Alan G. Padgett (DPhil, Oxford University) is professor of systematic theology at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he serves as the chair of the history and theology division. His books include Christianity and Western Thought (volumes 2 and 3), Faith and Reason: Three Views, and But Is It All True? The Bible and the Question of Truth. Previously, he was professor of theology and the philosophy of science at Azusa Pacific University, and he is an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church.

Osvaldo Padilla (PhD, University of Aberdeen) is professor of divinity at Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, Alabama. He is the author of The Acts of the Apostles, The Speeches of Outsiders in Acts, and he has written articles and reviews for Themelios, Bulletin for Biblical Research, New Testament Studies, and Ex Auditu. He is a member of the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas. Previously, he taught New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and served as pastor of Jesus el Buen Pastor, a Hispanic congregation in the Chicago area. He is married to Kristen, and they have one son.

William Pannell is professor emeritus of preaching at Fuller Seminary, where he taught from 1974 until his retirement in 2014. Fuller recognized his service to the school and the whole church with the January 2015 renaming and dedication of the William E. Pannell Center for African American Church Studies.

Dr. Pannell previously served in leadership roles with Youth for Christ and Tom Skinner Associates. His books include My Friend, the Enemy and Evangelism from the Bottom Up. He and his wife, Hazel, live near Pasadena.

James L. Papandrea

James L. Papandrea (PhD, Northwestern University) is a teacher, author, speaker, and musician. He is professor of church history and historical theology at Garrett-Evangelical Seminary at Northwestern University, as well as a consultant in the area of adult faith formation and a regular speaker in parish and lay formation programs in the Chicago area. He is the author of The Earliest Christologies, The Trinitarian Theology of Novatian of Rome, and Reading the Early Church Fathers. Also a published songwriter, professional musician, and teacher of songwriting, Papandrea has written and arranged music for church choirs and has written two musicals.

After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in music and theatre arts, Papandrea received his MDiv degree from Fuller Theological Seminary with a concentration in youth ministry, then spent several years in full time youth and music ministry. He went on to receive a PhD in the history and theology of the early Christian church from Northwestern University, with secondary concentrations in New Testament interpretation and the history of the Roman Empire. He has also studied Roman history at the American Academy in Rome, Italy. Papandrea is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature, the North American Patristics Society, and the Catholic Association of Music.

When he's not teaching or performing music, he can be found traveling with his wife, Susie, taking photographs, and making pilgrimages to places like Rome and Assisi.

Tamara Park (MDiv, Gordon-Conwell Seminary) is a writer, television producer, and former pastor with a passion for travel, cultures, and justice. Growing up in a family devoted to faith and social justice endeavors, Tamara's passion for narrative and curiosity for the world took shape. She quickly came to believe that everyone has a story to tell, and she has chased down stories and interviewed remarkable people in five continents. Tamara trekked from Mozambique to Morocco, learning from African leaders for the Halogen TV original series Noble Exchange: Africa. She then took rising musicians, models, and actors on a journey of discovery and service for Noble Exchange: Latin America. She recently spent a year and a half interviewing survivors of sex-trafficking and modern-day abolitionists in the U.S. and South East Asia for the TV series Tainted Love. Currently she produces videos and short films for Lifetree Café. Prior to producing, Tamara served as Pastor of Community at Warehouse 242, a church in Charlotte, North Carolina, overseeing small groups and spiritual formation. She studied and wrote articles in Jerusalem and scripted children's videos in Brussels, and after sallying through the Balkans and Middle East she authored the travel memoir Sacred Encounters from Rome to Jerusalem. Tamara lives in Fort Collins, CO, where daily she’s in awe of the Rockies, consumes ridiculous amounts of dark chocolate, and savors seeing God’s movement in lives of such fascinating people around her.
