I have been in constant pain for over 30 years and I suffer from major chronic depression. I have been a Christian most of my life. My life is anything but abundant. Why would a loving God allow his child to suffer so much?

There are apologists who have "answers" to your question. I'm not an apologist and I have no answer. Sometimes God has no answer—at least none was given to Job. I offer my sympathy and I would encourage you to seek opportunities to reach out to others who also suffer. I have never endured anything comparable to what you speak of, but I did go through a very difficult time 18 years ago. My healing came in part through reaching out to a woman whose condition was much worse than mine was.
