Conversations: Forgiving & Being Forgiven
Bonnie:
I know that God does forgive my sins when I tell him that I'm sorry, but God also want us to forgive other people. If I didn't get a chance to say to someone, "I'm sorry," and it's too late, does God still forgive me? Or is it too late for that, too?
Ruth:
God's forgiveness does not depend on our forgiving others. Jesus died on the cross for all our sins and we can confidently lay claim to that. But even as Christ has forgiven us, so should we forgive others—and that includes a spirit of forgiveness. Even when we are not saying repeatedly, "I forgive you," we should have the mind that is in Christ, one of humility and forgiveness. One of the marks of a Christian is a spirit of forgiveness that radiates from our very beings.
Shalom.
