Elliott is an assistant professor in the College of Entertainment and Music Business at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. He was a contributing writer for Definitive Country: The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Country Music and Its Performers (Perigree/Berkley Publishing Group). Also a songwriter with more than eighty recorded songs to his credit, he has won awards from American Songwriter Magazine, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, and the Gospel Music Association.
